Tucson Centers for Women and Children operates two emergency shelters for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. Founded in 1975, TCWC provides emergency shelter, crisis intervention, and referral services to victims of family violence.
The City of Tucson began funding the shelter in 1976. Financial assistance from United Way, the State Behavioral Health Services and Justice Departments, the Department of Public Safety, and a number of charitable organizations and individual donors followed, and continue to support Tucson Centers for Women and Children.
Angel Children's Center was founded in 1998. This child care center provides recreational and educational programs for up to 87 children, ages 2 months through 12 years. The Angel Children's Center is open to both shelter participants and the Tucson community. |
